Labor Day for a Dog

You know, I've been thinking...yes, I do that. A lot! I have the time, what can I say. Labor Day for dogs isn't all it's cracked up to be. IF I'm lucky I might be taken for a walk and, as I've already mentioned before, the leash is an ENTIRELY other blog topic. IF I'm lucky I might even get some leftovers from the bbq my humans are planning. But for the most part, it isn't that exciting.
If I attended school, I could see how the last weekend before classes starting would be useful. I don't go to school
If I worked, I would understand how a 3-day weekend would be quite pleasant. I don't work.
If I had a credit card and could take advantage of all the Labor Day Weekend sales there are out there, (HINT, HINT!! Free Shipping and Cut-backs at www.wesellpetsupplies.com!) I would be somewhat excited. I don't own a credit card and have no place to put it if I did.
Dog sigh. I suppose I'm going to have to settle for sitting on my human's lap while they jabber away with their friends and neighbors about all kinds of things that I don't understand. For instance...the make and model of the neighbor's newest automobile. Give me just one chance to scratch myself inside and I'm on it! Or my human's newest color of lipstick that would look fabulous on the neighbor's wife. Lipstick!! OMD (that would be Oh My Dog, btw...) Have no idea why my human wants to put paint on their face. I usually try to lick it off if it lands on me and trust me when I say that it has happened in the past. They spent two days painting the hallway and half of it got on me. What? Looks guilty. They put down a...a...snaps paws while trying to think of the word....drop cloth! That's it. Who was I to know that I wasn't supposed to be underneath it or under-foot, for that matter. I suppose it serves me right. Dog grin. =) It was a TON of fun!
Back on topic: Labor Day for a Dog
So all in all, I think I'd rather go to the nearest Dog Park, be allowed to run around for hours with my fellow paw pals, sniff and mark and yap to my heart's content! That's a Labor Day for me! And probably for a ton of other dogs, too.
Let us rise up in unison and declare it Labor Dog Day since it is we who give so much attention and love (and saliva) to our humans! Let us BOL *Bark Out Loud* for all us dogs (and other pets, too) who are forced to press our little faces up against the patio door just to be let inside.
I declare September 5th...Labor Dog Day in honor of all dogs.
